A bit of time to heal

Needing to take a few months out while my latest surgery heals.

Unfortunately over the last year I have been suffering
with a lot of pain to my right hand, (now its 2nd op in a year,)

and yep, its my illustrating hand!!

After a pretty intensive operation last month, involving some
reconstruction, bone grafting and stapling, "eek,"
this should sort my unstable bones in my wrist and hand
once and for all.
fingers crossed ehh? Well maybe not : )

Anyway, the ideas are still flowing, just more mentally than with a pencil,
but I am starting to get some sketches down with my left hand!
(I can't possible not draw in all this time!)

I know that I just need to be very patient, (easier said than done,)
but hopefully after some "aggressive physio," (so they call it,)
things will be back to normal in time, and most importantly, finally pain free!

So bear with, and watch this space x

Latest Publication "Thank You Teacher"

Last Autumn I was asked by Little Tiger Press to work on my 7th book with them,
to add to their current range of Gift books that were launched in the
Spring of 2012.

The range has seen publications now released in 8 different countries, the U.S,
being our most popular customers it seems, and so this particular book has been
specifically published for Thunder Bay Books

I worked to illustrate the beautiful text by Josephine Collins again
in this new book,

"Thank you Teacher."

The artwork needed to work alongside the current books in the range,
simple line, produced using my "Inky Stick", and gentle use of watercolour inks.
A lot of these marks were applied with my fingers.
I was very lucky to be able to come up with the choice of characters that I felt
worked for each phrase myself,
and worked closely with Little Tiger Press to decided on the best flow for the pages.

I wonder if book 8 in the range may follow one day?  : )

"Meow, meow, meow!"

You may have noticed that I have not blogged for quite some time.

I have however been possibly the most busy that I have been in years,
but all with projects that I just feel I can not display until they are
released to the public by my clients/contacts.

I did however really enjoy creating this piece, when I had a moment to spare,

"Meow,

Meow,

MEOW!"

One of my fav subjects to illustrate, as you may have noticed - CATS!

A very Happy New Year to you all,
and hopefully soon I will reveal a lot more work in progress to you : )
